Golf Magazine once ranked The Bali Handara Golf Club among the top 50 golf courses in the world, but today the club has a different claim to fame. The spectacular Balinese temple gates at the entrance to the club has become a popular place to be photographed, and many of the tourists posing here probably have no idea what lies beyond the beautiful gates.
The spectacular 18-hole championship course, designed by British Open champion Peter Thompson, is placed inside the crater of a dormant volcano, surrounded by green mountains, crater lakes and lush highland rain forests, shrouded in the mountain mists. Every time you walk around a bend in the course a new fantastic view is revealed.
The course is located in the highlands, 45 minutes from Damai. The highlands have a cooler climate and it often rains in the afternoon. Best start your round early in the day.
